    thanks

i have the car as its my daily driver

    just cant drive at night

its not the globes ,all dash lights are out too

i replaced the switch in january 2011 and the new switch is showing no signs of melting

its the headlights and the parkers that are not working ,driving lights are working fine

he did mention i could run a wire and all would be good, but was concerned that the last time he saw this the guy got him to run a wire then the other things started to go wrong like his wipers

he didnt want to do the dismantleing thats why he gave it back and asked me to do it

but its not something i want to do either

i will need to get this done by a pro, so its done correctly

so what kit do i need to purchase from traxide?

    Headlight Kits

The defender kit is different to the other kits (wiring to accommodate the battery location). If you want to wire in driving lights, go the combo. As I said before the instructions are detailed. Even a mug like me made sense of it.

The idea of the kit is to provide power from the battery to the headlight via a relay which uses the original headlight plug as the positive feed for the relay switch. Theory is it improves the voltage to the headlights by cutting out the power lead running through the HL switch resulting in brighter lights from your OEM globes or suitable for an upgraded globe. Your auto electrician can do the same by piecing together the bits and bobs. The benefit of the kit is it's all there and no splicing of wires, no guessing what wire you are cutting etc etc.

Email Tim if you have any queries. If you call him and he is up for a chat, be warned, he has many a story to impart.

    best of luck, MLD

I've had no luck with Traxide's kit,I'm on my fourth relay and the upgrade has been more trouble than the original switch so I'm taking it out when I get time. Pat

Well it's definitely not the switch

I've ran a wire from the switch to the fuse under the seat and it has worked

Now to try and hide the wire in the dash and under the mat

    So the guy was right

I wonder what else the multi plug is attached to?

Has anyone ever seen this plug?

Hi Scotty ,you say you have high beam so you must have power up at the high/low indicator switch ,if don't have one, get yourself a cheap light tester .Eath it , test each side of the blue live the one in the centre the switch goes from high to low at that point when you flick the switch back and forward , it's easyer if you take the switch off to test . I hope this helps , also just thinking listern for the relay to click .

    the switch is fine

it is somewhere between the switch and the fuse

apperently there is a multi plug in there somewhere but no one seems to know where it is or how to get to it

ive ran a wire from the switch to the fuse and now lights are working ok

    ill find it one day

    thanks
