    Td5 performance

What's the most cost effective way to improve my Td5 performance?
Also what are the best alterrain tyres?

Flow through exhaust. If I had known how much difference it would have made for less than $200, I would have done it years ago.

    This is what I did.

Re-chipped ECU - Biggest gains achieved and totally transformed the vehicle. From memory I got mine thru Triumph Rover Spares in Sth Aust.
3" mandrel bent exhaust with a hi flow muffler
    Silicon hoses
    EGR valve removed.

    All money well spent.
Allisport performance intercooler will eventually happen.
Love a vnt turbo but I reckon the misses will leave me.

Best all terrain tyres, don't really know as I only run around on km2s, however I have heard very good things from friends about the Goodyear Duratech ATR's. Pretty quiet on the road and mountains of grip as they have a nice open tread pattern.

I'd also give the new Mickey T's a look in as they look quite meaty for an ATR.

    Hope it helps

You got any figures on the chipped motor?

I have a gas system on my 99/2000 TD5, I was wondering if you or anyone else have the dyno figures from a chipped motor. I thought it may be interesting to compare the figures and economy of 'normal' vehicles driven by 'normal' people, if there are such things!

flashable ecu and a remap from td5 inside would be my starting point .

and the basics egr removal, silcone hoses and centre muffler gone.\

    td5 performance is an addiction

talk to Jose from td5 inside, he is a member on here or via his face book page.

td5 inside is by far the best tuning company i have dealt with.

Agree TD5 inside ECU remap is the best money that I've spent on my Defender so far.
Have a stage 2 and about to try stage 3.
Have done egr removal, silicon hoses and a bigger inter cooler.

There are 3 tires fighting for best AT right now: BFG AT, Firestone Destination AT, Michelin LTX AT2. Overall, I'd go with the Firestone. Incredible performance on and off the road, far superior on the road when compared to BFG and off the road when compared with the Michellin. I have the Michelin in the Defender, BFG in the lady's Series and Pirelli Scorpio AT in my Series. If for everyday use, i'd keep the Michelin, if the world collapses, I´d go with the BFG. Michelin have outstanding performance in rocks, sand and gravel, not so good in mud, but miles away better than any ATR (including those good looking Mickey everybody have in here). Please dont go with the Scorpio ATR, they are the best way to go in troubles when any drop of mud is in the way. I´d like the Firestone, they are cheap and the best overall......
