Best Puma Double Cardan front shaft option

Having seen on here a few failures on replacement front driveshafts I'd like to know which manufacturer is best to supply one that is rated for highway use not just slow offroad.

    Many thanks

depends on what you want to spend. Hardy Spicer can do a heavy duty D2 type version for around $950. I tried an ordinary OE D2 shaft lengthened and balanced for my Puma and had to rebuild it twice in about 15K. So the HD version might be worth a go. Or if money is no object you could get them to make you a Cornay jointed complete shaft with HD front joint as well for around $2,000. The actual Cornay joint is ridiculously expensive though. Photo attached. Good for highway speed and off road. There are other overseas DC shafts available but some threads here have had variable success.

My Tom Woods has held up OK for 10k so far.

    Edit: that's on a 09 110 with a two inch lift.

I have a Tom Woods one in our D2, which while being a different application, is pretty similar.

It has been perfect. 36k km on it now.

No vibrations, fine at highway speeds etc etc etc

I wouldn't even consider anything else

what ever you do, don't buy a crappy britpart shaft.
These one I was sold was not greaseable and started to cr@p it'sself after just 6months.
I ended up buying one thru les Richmond automotive. 750 & very good piece of kit.
    Definitely recommend it.

The Bailey Morris I had lasted 18,000km and the gibsons just 3,000km. I am back on stock height springs now so I have put the stock shaft back in.

There are a few good reports of Tom Woods (enter Lowranger stage left) but I cant seem to think of anyone running one on a Puma......

I recon its b######t that we have to spend this on a new car in the first place...get a Toyota or Nissan put a 2" lift in it and off ya go...mine vibrates ridiculously and that's stock as a rock if anything i have a sagged front end god forbid a 2" lift...
I have emailed landrover Australia in regards to diffs and Tailshafts in new defenders and have received now reply so ill be getting in touch with landrover UK just so they know what us over here in Oz are thinking...

From what I can determine the pinion to transfer flange angles are no where near parallel on the new pumas maybe the 130's more so..so there's 2 options to overcome this 1.factory fitted double cardon or 2.phase uni's approx 45* to each other which mathematically may work but does not work when LR have actually put it in our vehicles...these Tailshafts cannot be lined up straight the same as older LR Tailshafts the splines wil not allow a perfect lineup of uni's.

You won't regret it. Nice shaft.
Only pain is greasing the knuckle.
You need to take shaft off at front diff so youcan bend the shaft to get right angle in order to fit the grease needle into knuckle grease point.

The unis are really easy to grease.
