    Has 130 GVM been reduced?

    Just curious

    was looking something up on the Land Rover website when I came across the current weight specs. Noticed two things;

    Don't seem to be offering Heavy Duty upgrade (GVM up to 3500Kg) anymore on 110 models

    The stated GVM for the 130 is now 3380kg -down from 3500kg.

    Double Cab High Capacity 4x4 Pick Up - Defender Double Cab HCPU | Land Rover UK

    So whats going on? I'm assuming there's been no actual change in the design structure of the MY 2013 vehicles.

    Silly question I guess, but is my 3500kg rated 110 still rated to 3500kg?

    Anybody know about this?

    Cheers

    The 130 still seems to be 3.5T on the Australian website, but I would consider anything on the website as "marketing gumpf" rather than any form of technical specification...

    Was the 110 Heavy Duty upgrade anything more than than additional inner rear springs? Or were other changes involved?

    Could be tax / vehicle classification related..

    Featherweight -that's an interesting observation

    I'd hazard a guess that the LR Aus website hasn't kept pace with the Pommy one, cos the vehicles must be identical. Unless of -as flagg suggests- there is some kind of tax or licencing bracket effective in UK that isn't in Aus.

    Its a real shame, as the Land Rover payload rating always set it in a league apart from those 'oriental pickups'

    My 110 -factory rated to 3500Kg- had HD wheels, reinforced chassis and yes, inner rear springs. Owing to lower kerb weight it theoretically is rated to haul about 200kg more than a regular 130.

    NT5224, how is your 110's chassis reinforced over normal?

    Mark, -absolutely no idea. It listed 'chassis reinforcement' under the Heavy Duty option list on the order form and brochure for MY 2012. I asked that same question on here soon after taking delivery- but nobody knew for sure. Probably something pretty minor, I certainly don't notice anything looking underneath but honestly haven't compared side by side with another Puma.

    That Heavy Duty option no longer appears either on the Aussie or Pommy Land Rover site -so it may have dropped as an option along with this 'decreased' GVM for the 130.
