I don't like the look of chequer plate, but needed some to prevent trashing my bonnet, so its painted white on a white 110. Green on green may work if you can match the colour with a powder coater or happy for just a spray.

I just have to decide on colour. The 90 will be Keswick with a white roof.
I would go black... if your flares, bullbar, roofrack etc are black it will match better than silver.. but that's just me..

I recently fitted some plate that I bought from Landybitz (and Juddy who is on this forum) and while I was initially not for putting plate on it's growing on me. But the plate quality is awesome (I believe it's the same that LR use and a fraction of the cost).. hubby fitted it in about an hour - it would have been done a lot quicker but we had to muck around a bit to cut a hole in the plate to accommodate an aerial that runs through it. I would recommend Landybitz if you are looking at getting some.

Sue, I like your theory! matching colours does work well. Lucky we have a girl here to give us their perspective. (rather than just boy ideas - cheap and make noise)

Can you put chequer on the bonnet of the latest model?

Regardless of personal opinion (can be quite hostile around here can't it?) this car is a long term investment for me, and I do a lot of bush miles and expeditions into remote places, so its about practicality more than aesthetics. I like the idea of being able to stand on it.

I wouldn't bother with trying to make it myself. The time to screw around with that is better served otherwise occupied.

Is it possible to put plate on the bonnet of the latest model with the hump in the bonnet?

Yes, check eBay for pics. The bump sticks out with the plate around on the flat part.

    Hi James,

    As per the below links:

Defender 3mm Bonnet Panel Black 2007 on

Defender2 - View topic - wanted: pic of your defender with bonnet checker plate prot

I'm not personally into the "bling factor" either, that being the main reason mine is black. I only have the wings though as I reckon I'm too heavy for checker plate to prevent me denting the bulge on the bonnet if I stood on it.

I like the stuff from All4Wheels in the UK (quality at a reasonable price), but the Patriot gear sold by Juddy here on the forum is "bells and whistles" in terms of quality.

    All 4 Wheels

    Cheers,

    Lou

Indeed it is. This is the plate we sell. 4.3mm thick and we do the gasket sets for the bonnets too.

    Black, or silver anodised.
