All controls on the mike, convenient, out of the way and easy to use.

Thats a nice neat setup. Ill probably copy you!
I do like the idea of the controls on the mic. My last UHF had the face and controls seperate to the box full of guts, but this is an improvement it seems.
Is the little speaker in the mic loud enough? Im a bit deaf.....
Hang on... is that carpet??
I might just mount mine a little higher to allow for high tide....
I'm doing up a 98 110. I had a mate redo the hood lining at his business and then bought a roof unit to house the radio and give better lighting.

Perfect timing for this thread as I just bought an Icom IC 400 pro second hand off eBay and looking at where to mount it and also an antenna.
Thinking the UHF behind centre cubby box console facing up and the mic just on the side forward of the seat belt catch. Not the best place but don't want to fit a roof console and its a full size unit so will check it out once I get it.
So I fitted my UHF just on the front of my cubby box next to the electric brake controller that was in the car. It's a little tight with the range selector stick but still enough room to use it.
Waiting on mic mount to screw to the AC ducting near the gear stick.
Antenna mounted of a flat stainless bracket bolted to the spotlight mount.
Will try and get some photos and post them.
I have a GME TX3220 mounted on the side of the cubby box, easy to operate, but you have to take your eyes off the road if you plan to change channel and want to be sure your on the right channel. hand piece sits in one of the cup holders for now, all 'soft wired' as I plan on upgrading to a TX3445.
someone on here has mounted there on top of the dash in a puma. . . maybe a MUD pod modified to fit one of the micro units would look sleek?
