Is acid washing normally done to cars?
I got my car detailed after i bought it, and drove it back from Broome. The guy acid washed it, and cut and polished it. Afterwards i notice that my painted rear cross-member started rusting, so i just sanded it back and re painted it. Now, several months later the paint on my roof is rippling and flaking off. Could this be related to the detail?
Here is a picture of the damage to the roof, showing the flaking and the rippling/bubbling. Thoughts?
Edit: I should also mention that the defender is 2006 and has 65, 000km

I doubt the acid would have caused the flaking, unless the paint was already cracked. But the paint used on a Defender is heavily dependent on the primer. Some Defenders have a very poor primer and the paint can flake off very easily - especially on the alloy sections. I have a South African built 110, and the primer on that is bad in some sections.
Mines a 2004 90 and have exactly the same issue, we bought ours from the UK with us and it started over there. I think the paint on the roof is very thin and once any water gets under it just lifts and peels. I have been thinking of getting it wrapped in vinyl but it doesn't seem that much cheaper than a resprayFor now its hidden by the roof rack and since i can't see it I'll keep ignoring it!!
