You can get wide bearing and narrow bearing stubbs and spindles. Remove the caliper and stub to check.

From memory the narrow spacing one has an extended raised area that puts the inner bearing outboard a bit. I may have posted up a photo in the the County disc brake conversion thread a couple of months back.

    Here's a piccy:

Defender stub on the left, early County on the right.

If you've got different stubs the caliper or disc may have been messed around with to make everything work too.

Edit: Just noticed the drive flanges seem to be different on each side, which would go along with different hubs/stubs etc.

Providing the pictures show measurements from the same point on both sides, then the mounting flange for the wheel is at approx. 167mm on both sides from the inner reference point,so therefore the only variable can be the rims,or the inner reference point

    pretty much not unusual.

have a few like that where human error chassis jigging/ welding comes into play.

measure the centre line of the ball joint, i have seen this before and it does seem that some leave the factory with poor alignment, destined to wear tyres unevenly and track poorly. lift or no lift the rear end won't suffer unless the ball joint alignment ie upper a frame bracketry is jigged correctly.
