But the backspacing should be the same.

The Def110 steel wheel has a 5.5 wide rim with a 33.1mm pos offset, while the Def130 rim is 6.5 wide with a 20.6mm offset. The rim width increases by 25.4mm, while the offset (measured from the centreline of the rim) reduces by 12.5mm. The chassis side of the wheel should be virtually in the same location with both designs of wheel.

Am I missing something here? Both sides are ~110 mm disc-wms???

255s or wider on stock disco rims will rub like that on both sides.

People may be forgetting Landrover tolerences here???

    OK

    Striped the hub.

Now I read the narrow stub as having 55mm from bearing face to start of thread.

in the hub with the bearings in, i read 54 mm from out side of the bearing to out side. This would explain why this wheel always had lose wheel bearings

Has anyone got a narrow hub off and can measure bearing to bearing or seat to seat please

Bearings themselves are the same for narrow/wide hubs.

Were the drive flanges actually different thicknesses from one hub to the other or was it just the angle in the photos that made me think that?

I think all my hubs are currently fitted but I'll try and have a look tonight.

There should be a decent thick washer (3mm or so) between the first nut and the bearing, so you still shouldn't have any bearing play with the 55/54mm you've measured.
