    LT230 cdl switch

    Hey guys
cdl light on the my05 110 dash doesn't light up when i slide leaver to the left .....have just brought some 3 tonne axle stands and will be checking soon if its engaging as is suggested "all over the net" but was wondering how easy it is to get to the switch. Have seen the linkgages online but most images seem to be for disco's. Is it just a case of taking out the drink holders/console box etc, transfer & gearbox boot and flooring? Sitting in the drivers seat is it located back left hand side (passenger side) of the transfer lever?

High and low range is working fine....though sometimes a bit stiff.......can't really say i've noticed it get much stiffer in the steering when the cdl is supposedly engaged

First defender for me, i usually drive a lux so new to cdl in general
    Thx in advance

I've just re assembled mine & pretty sure if you remove the driver side floorboard & the centre hump, you get good access. I'd be checking the globe first of course.

Unfortunately i think i'm up for a replacement....had the car checked out by a landrover specialist before i brought it and they didnt notice the CDL issue

with one tyre off the ground (front right)- first gear and transfer lever to the right (cdl Off position in both high and low) wheel wont spin much at all . So i guess at this point it doesnt matter what switch is doing.

Well not of to a good start but this car is going to be a long term proposition; whats the best option in Australia....replacement from Ashcroft or locally rebuilt? I guess i could still drive it off-road (i live in the mid-north of SA) so there are plenty of dirt roads arround home. If the transfers stuffed (more precisely the cdl) whats the consequences of me continuing to drive on the tarmac till i can afford to replace / rebuild?

    Cheers
    Darryl

110 centre diff lock not working?
    With main gearbox in neutral
-diff lock lever on= elevated front wheel won't turn
-diff lock lever off=elevated front wheel turns freely

If the main box is in gear the elevated wheel won't turn no matter what position the diff lock selector lever is in.
Perhaps you should try testing it again.

If you need to replace the switch the Lucas OEM replacement should be about $30.

    cheers

Well good news of sorts.......the wheel is spinning in the cdl off or on position......so atleast it has not been locked in i guess.
So probable cause...the linkages at this stage?
