2.2 and 2.4 Duratorq oil pump issues?

    Hi all

Here in South Africa there are persistent rumours of oil pump failures and issues with the Puma engine which leads to engine failure.

I've done a search and I've found nothing.

I have seen problems with the INJECTOR PUMP and there is a bulletin for the partial repair and replacement of injector components.
I've also seen problems with the brake VACUUM PUMP which can lead to oil loss.

Do you guys think these people are getting their "facts" confused?

There were rumours of issues in the early days, in it's original Ford Transit van configuration. Not sure whether oil pump related or not.

While there seemed to be a high number of failures and problems, I don't think statistically the Puma was any worse than any other engine, in view of the massive numbers of vans built.

Your rumour mill is possibly churning out the TD5 oil pump bolt problem in the early 2000s. Did you get that engine in South Africa?

    Regards
    Max P
