Most of the oil companies will advertise the right products for your vehicle on their websites.
It's worth a look, takes all the guess work out of what should be used and where.
was just wondering what the best oil is to use for a standard engine oil service for a td5, i have heard penrite fully synthetic is good? any suggestions?

The best oil is the one that does not leak out , haha.

SupporterI'm running caltex delo 400, with good results on a 12,000km change interval.
I run Nulon full synthetic and change to oils at 10,000kms. If I change to penrite and change every 5000 kms it works out to roughly the same, although not exactly

I used Mobile Delvac 1 ESP 5W-40 on my Td5
I used to get the oil tested every service and it was never remotely close to actually needing to be dumped.
Its not cheap though. After seeing everyone using penrite and seeing enough oil testing, I changed to Penrite. I still have a 10L drum I think if anyone wants it cheap. Its no good to me now!
