you don't change the tubro, you fit a bigger intercooler and tweak the injection pump. There are couple of people in Sydney that do it I think.

    Tweaking the fuel pump

If you feel confident you can tweak the pump yourself. It will make a big difference to your performance.
This site tells you how to it yourself and the link at the bottom takes you to another landrover forum where a lot of people have done it and comment on fuel economy, power increase and increase in black smoke.

    http://www.ece.vt.edu/~dfritz/technical/DI...er/Power_ve.htm

You can then just get an intercooler from the wreckers and do it yourself.

If you go down this road, either aftermarket or DIY I would recommend getting an EGT (exhaust Gas Temp) guage so as you don't end up melting your pistons.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi, join the Landrover Enthusiasts site (www.landroverenthusiastforum.com) and check out the technical archives. There is a guy known as "john the diesel man" who has put lots of detail on how to tweak the pumps.

I have done it to my 300tdi Disco and the results are amazing. I put in a better intercooler (bought a damaged one and had a better core fitted). I then did the pump adjustments as set out in the site. Works a treat.

I have fitted a boost guage and an exhaust gas temp guage to keep an eye on temps. It can get a bit hot if you go too far but if you are conservative and keep the smoke down it is great. The better cooler improved boost at the manifold by several pounds and gave an immediate inprovement, even before touching the pump.

I just had a radiator service that also did intercoolers do that work, I'm sure someone in Perth could also. Cost me around $700 for the intercooler.

Happy to provide mors info if you need it. I can email pictures of the intercooler if that is useful.

    Cheers

    Jim

    Concur with bigbugger

Jordon Rover tech can do wonders. An uprated intercooler a bit of tuning will have it flying

What amount of Boost do you read on your guage and how hot do you allow EGT to get?

Hi, boost goes to around 15lbs (slightly over) at the manifold. I allow EGT to go to 720 but try to stay a bit below that. Goes up very quick if you go very rich on main fuel.

    Cheers

    Jim
