Don't take what I say as gospel. Ignoring what you say about the de-cat because I haven't touched exhaust. But my understanding is that when you put your car in for a service you return the car back to factory tuning. Two reasons. A) The warrant issues you spoke of.I believe (Someone feel free to correct me) that if they plug your computer into a diagnostics machine while its currently remapped it can pretty much lock and kill and ecu. It only takes ten minutes to re-map it, so its no big drams.
You other questions are probably best answered by my own mini write up. I have an 07 110, No roof rack. Just bullbar and winch. I get 650k out of a tank. Although Im not even 30 yet, I do drive like a grand dad (at the speed limit but). In saying that, I found that in my TD5 and Puma, it didn't really matter how I drove, it returned that same fuel economy.
As for power/fuel economy. The power is great, but its smooth. It just feels like that's how its meant to be. It feels proper without been over the top. I de-tuned mine today because its going in for a service/suspension works tomorrow and it reminded me how much drive ability it gave me with BAS. Keep in mind that when I first got the Puma I was blown away with its power. The BAS re-map was I think, and equal step up in performance.
Keep in mind he also does custom tunes if your Defender has a fair few mods etc.
Fuel economy has remained the same.
Thanks Aaron,
Wasn't sure about the warranty stuff, but had a feeling that was the way to go.
I was quite surprised at how much I lost when the roof rack went on, then I lost even more by running my old 31's (muddies)
I can get it back up a bit by slowing down, being smoother etc, but its hard trying to keep up with general traffic. I just hate stop/start, but that's city life![]()
Loaded the addon yesterday, and yes, what a difference. Smooth right from the get go and keeps going. 4wding this weekend![]()
Wish they would hurry up with the 2.2 improvements arrr![]()
I updated my BAS remap to the new version today, and it was worth the money, the car is smoother and feels better, I think it is a definite improvement and worth the UKP50. Thanks Drover for let us all know about the new map.
Anyone getting surging post upgrade? I'm getting some on a very light throttle load, particularly when the engine is still warming up.
Not sure it's the upgrade, but I never used to have any. Not logging any faults - I'll check the fuel/air filter tomorrow.
