    Question Head lights turn off

    Hi all

This morning I put my high beams on and headlights turned off.
When the leaver is pushed forward they turn off, but when pulled back they stay on but high beams don't come on.

I've checked the fuses & all ok.
I have all the headlights and driving lights going thru a separate relay.
This is the second indicator/lights stalk in the car.
One thing I noticed is the stalk has a bit of play in it.
I'm thinking the stalk is cactus.

    It's a 2005 td5

    Any thoughts?

It will be either the heaflight switch or the multifunction switch, almost certainly the latter.

As there is no relay, the switches carry the full headlight current. They are barely adequate for this, and fitting higher than standard wattage bulbs will ensure a very short life indeed.

The solution is to replace whichever switch is faulty, but at the same time fit a set of relays so the new switches only carry a small current. If the relays are properly installed and near the headlights, this will also give much better lighting! (One of the vendors sells kits, or you can do it yourself, or get any auto electrician to do it.)

    Thanks all.
Be good if you could buy a quality aftermarket one.
Even better if they made something that worked off the line.
