Hi Landy86, good choice. Apart from an increased turning circle, they are a great vehicle. There is at least one thread on this forum about child seats in a 130 so try the search function and see what turns up. Some people find the rear springs a little harsh when unloaded and some of them have removed the inner coil to solve that problem. Something to keep in mind. Cheers, 130man.

Something to remember, they do not have factory baby mounts, but neither does a 110. Look in the good oil there are ways to sort it out. I went for the bar across the back, we don't need engineering approval in tassie so it was easy.

130 I have is great, the turning circle is bad sure, but not really much worse than a 110, I always go for parks I can drive straight into or out of cause it perfectly fills a standard car spot! Always worried I'm going to get parked in otherwise. I put lighter 110 spec rear springs in, but it has a sagging bum now so am going to refit the helper springs. Great off road, sometimes a long wheel base is better than short, a 90 will be in a bog hole that a 130 has wheels either side of!

• cheap enough to buy if needed while away with out them
• cheap enough to give away if not needed while away
• have only used one in 40,000km so far, and could have worked around it

I went down the sill tank route.

mulgo does a good package which gives you 210L total.

Depending on what your doing with your 130 they might not be the best option as they are somewhat exposed to damage.
but for touring I haven't had any issues what so ever getting them hung up on anything.

It is a big price outlay though... Jerry cans are much cheaper!

I've found my 130 (a 1996) much more economical than either of my Nissans, a Navara and a Patrol, and agree with the jerry can option. I'm happy travelling with an extra 40-60 litres when required, especially for the cost of a long range tank.

If you have a Dual cab chassis you can fashion the tray to accommodate a second fuel tank up under the front of the tray. Not sure about the tub but i assume there is room for a second tank under the tub. There is a stack of room in a 130 if you are prepared to customise to make use of the available space.

Given a long range tank is about $1,400 it's a 'nice to have'. It also adds weight behind the axle.

I carried 2 jerry cans to the Cape on a 7,700 kms trip and never did i need to empty them in anger. There will be limited occasions that you really really need the additional fuel beyond a few jerry cans.

MR Automotive will sell you the Maxi drive HD steering rods and axles. Likewise with Les Richmond Auto. And if not mistaken Modern Motors at Dungog (NSW) sell maxi drive products.

As for the baby seats, i have 2010 Puma 130 and behind the seats is a pair of steel braces with holes pre-drilled. The prior owner of mine bolted a child seat bracket into the brace. Something to think about over the next 8 months.
