Smile Anyone waiting for a grey 110 with black roof?

Went out to wet the line this morning, but gave up after a couple of snags - decided to go up the yarra to docklands for some breakfast. On the way up, past the docks, saw two 110s - both identical in grey body with black roof and sawtooth black wheel. Looked awesome!!

I thought I would take photos on the way back, but too late - they had already been loaded on the truck. You can spot one from the photo, the other one is on lower deck.

Someone will be getting a new year present soon. ; )

I suppose someone has, but it almost leaves me speechless that someone in this country has actually ordered a car with a black roof!

Some of the Sydney dealers seem to be ordering in contrast roof Defenders.

I did like the look of the red body / black roof agreed there is no way I would want one for a tourer - looks great sure but bound to be very hot in summer / the sun!

JD, have a look at all the new houses with black/dark blue/dark grey roofs. An awful lot of people seem to have a total distain for simple physics, and a touching faith in air conditioning. In a time when energy efficiency is held in such high regard (and when electricity prices are so high), it astounds me that dark roofs are tolerated when they must cause more energy to be used up counteracting the heat soaked up by the roof.
As our North American cousins say when faced with a behavioural anomaly, "Go figure".

In at least some council areas, the most effective roof type, unpainted galvalum, is not permitted, presumably because it looks "cheap". Many councils encourage, if not mandate, colours that blend in with the dark green foliage of native trees. This may explain the observation.

On the other hand, it may simply be fashion, which can be the only possible explanation for a black roof on a utility vehicle such as a Defender - or any other vehicle for that matter.

    its mine

    Hi all,
agree re black roof but one is for my son and will be on the way to Dubbo Land Rover where I have just got my 130 from too--it really is a nice car with leather , the wheels, mt tyres and lots of extras to be fitted. He has just sold his 2.4 90 with high mileage which was great unless you pressure washed the motor--never do that as it ruins the sensors--I learnt that lesson twice! By the way the new 2.2's are just so quiet it really is not like a Defender at all.

What's the fuss with the black roof ?

I have a fully black defender and yes it is hot when sitting in the sun with windows up after a while. I have to say though , it's never been an issue after letting the hot air out of the sunroof and letting the airco do it's thing - back to normal. I like the black and grey combo - looks fantastic - enjoy. !
