By way of a reply to my own thread, a quick search has revealed that the AP900 as installed by panawonica, is a Command unit. So there you go. Does anyone have any more feedback on them?

I have spoken with the Command people and theya re insisteant that the unit must be fitted by one of their certified installers. They were checking who would do it in my area but I am still waiting to hear.

That puts me off straight away. Where will they be if it fails out in the middle of nowhere? I prefer to do all my accessory installations myself so I know exactly how it's done and how to deal with it.
Also, I'd be keen enough to have Cruise Control on the Puma but not if overrun at the crest of hills is an issue. Been there done that with my Nissan GUte and it frustrated the heck out of me. My wife's Audi has no such issue and I like the CC in that. If there was an aftermarket CC to suit the Puma that worked like the Audi's CC, I'd be a buyer for sure.

    10,000 k test

We are back in WA although still 400 ks from home and have now done over 10,000 ks with the Autron . I'm very happy with it we have tested it in all types of conditions including low range crawling to high speed touring . The guy fitted it at my home so I could watch where everything was hooked up. I believe there can be insurance issues if it's not installed by a qualified installer ( remember the runaway toyotas). The most the speed picks up at top of hills is 5 kph and it drops again in a hundred meters. No worse than my company Hilux or my Old Disco . In areas with lots of corners and up and down hill like Norseman to Coolgardie I turn it off no cruise works well in these conditions and you need to drive the vehicle yourself. I found on very heavy corrigations it did not work and kept dropping out but again this type of situation requires manual input on the throttle. I drove 1300 ks today across the Nullabor and I don't have a sore right foot.

Nah - sounds like you need to drive my wife's Audi. You'd be lucky if it'd overrun by 1kph even on the crest of a steep hill. I'm pretty sure it'll also bring in engine braking and down-change (tip-tronic auto) on a steep downhill to maintain the CC set speed. I use it pretty much every time I drive it. Overrun of +5kph sounds like my old GUte with the K-mart CC fitted at ~$200. I would very, very rarely use it because it was ... I'll be nice ... "frustrating".
Does the Autron have a minimum useable speed? The K-mart one wouldn't go below 40kph, so was limited use for low range.

    No minimum

No I set it up on the old telegraph track in and out of trees in low range at 20 kph and it worked ok. On the beach at Fraser Island it was great at 50 kph . It will do me although I will take you up on a drive of the Audi. Need to catch up I have heaps of news and found lots of Series 1 bits. How about dinner in a week or so after I get the house and pool back in shape .

I got MR to install mine, works well , same problem with overspeed at the top of a hill, but every cruise I have has had the same problem especially if towing. My background in control systems tells me it's something to do with integral windup and if you solved it you would have problems elsewhere.
From memory it was the first one the mechanic had installed in a Defender and it cost about $750 installed.
Mine looks exactly like this one Our Products - Cruise Control
