You could always get an estimation on repairs from Award Diffs or similar as a starting point

I did consider that, the main reason i was interested in the Ashcroft is the HD support bearing converison available. I do quite a few trips to Threbo in the winter and a lot of it is 5th gear under load and this is the main weakness in the R380... although i might give this Terry guy a call and see if they can do something similar. Other than this, the gearbox was perfectly fine, so it is rather annoying.

Also, ashcroft's pricing on clutches and flywheels is considerably less than local suppliers, so all up it works out to be a few hundred less even with shipping, and you get an upgraded box less likely to have this problem again.

Very interested in how this plays out, as I am looking at either a rebuild or recon R380 in the very near future. And finding a good option in WA is not easy.
    Cheers

I did exactly this in May last year with a recon R380 and Lt230 from Ashcrofts, all went well and cheaper than available in Brisbane even without returning the old boxes.

Thanks rangieman! You looked after the old girl well, lots of life left in her yet, after the gearbox is done anyway
