    130 Purchase

    Hi

I'm looking to buy this 130,
Does anyone know the history of it? It seems like its been off road a bit but the setup looks good.

    2009 Land Rover Defender 130 09MY

i'd appreciate if anyone can see anything on it of concern, or if there are some issues with this model I should look out for.

    regards

I don't know the car but by the looks of the tray and rear floor well it's certainly been a work truck. Which may not mean much either. Get the Vin number and ask Land Rover to print you off a service and warranty record. For a car that has done so little milage in 5 years, some parts seem well used, otherwise it looks quite good.

It looks tidy in the pics.. I'm not sure why the mirror arms look so chipped/corroded for a car with such low milage and with the rest of the body looking clean.

It appears to have a single cab steel tray (2100mm) rather than the factory 1800mm. This may cause issues if you plan to tow or carry heavy loads. Look out for cracks in the chassis mounts.

I'd be getting a pre-purchase check by an independent Land Rover specialist before you put any money down.

I personally think it's worth around the $38K mark.

Research shows a company setting up part of regional NBN was the previous owner.

I'll look for those cracks, .. thanks

They are supplying a 3 year Warranty, its from a Holden Dealer.

If you're going to pay a premium then I'd be checking the fine print on the warranty to see if it will cover things like driveline failures (Diffs, transfer case etc..) These warranties often have a dollar limit per claim/incident. Also, be aware that you'd most likely be stuck getting all your services/repairs done by the Holden dealer.

Its part of the deal and I will be stuck servicing there. Once every 12 months or 20000K

The Deal is ok .. just the decision left of it being the car which will take me through the next 10 years offroad.

Tray will be helpful as I have dogs, .
I can build up storage on it for valuables.

the Magic question.... with the right setup, proper lift, etc..... will the capabilities match the 110!!!! :-)

The 130 is often better than a similarly spec'd 110!

I don't think Land Rover will divulge that sort of information to the public. If they did, there'd be an awful lot of Land Rovers sitting in car yards.

The servicing dealer might be able to help with service history but the books should also be stamped accordingly.

service every 20K is way to long, but it's your call also. Standard is 12, most round to 10.
I know from the extent of warranty work on my truck, I'd be surprised if LR made profit on my vehicle. The prices for components are alarming, so hopefully it has stabilised or finished.
I'd be checking that warranty very carefully.
My fathers non factory dealer warranty became worthless as the servicing cost were very high, and the warranty very limited. The dealer also moved which then became impractical to use.

Scouse, I have assumed with freedom of information on a second hand car that would be possible. Someone of here got the OK from a dealer regarding the vehicle, but when he got his hands on the records it indicated it was a bit of a problem vehicle. So maybe one can only access that info after owning the car.
