Hi all,
I am seeking some feedback on the current engine performance, especially looking for detail on how well they pull a load and how well they manage normal road speeds. I am looking at purchasing one however the local dealer won't let me test drive it any more than a lap around the block.
I drive a mix of 4wd tracks, dirt roads and highway throughout Queensland and most of the time I have a loaded trailer behind me.
2.2 just sounds small and the lap of the block was not enough to tell me otherwise.
Many thanks
Agreed, definitely time to find another dealer, that's just bloody offensive! Anyway, my 2.2 has no trouble keeping up with traffic at all, the first couple of gears are quite low but after that it pulls away no dramas. As far as towing, I haven't done a lot with this one but on the occasions I have it seems to be fine, no problem at all.

						Hi ASN,
Try the Pacific Rover guys down the road at Sugar Road, Maroochydore. I went in there late 2012 and told them I wasn't in the market at least until the new year, but I still really wanted to take a defender for a test drive. One of their employees had just bought the only defender they had in the lot, and he offered to let me have a test drive.
I said I want to drive it up some hills and also with a stint of highway so I could feel and hear the thing at 100 km/hr. Despite trying constantly to talk me into buying a range rover (never gonna happen), he capitulated and let me drive it on a quite lengthy test drive which did indeed confirm that it was the vehicle for me.
As a salesman, he really didn't impress me at the time. He seemed to spend more time bagging the vehicle out rather than trying to focus on it's strengths. However, at least I got a drive
As it happens, I moved interstate shortly afterwards, and delayed purchase. Expecting my 110 to arrive at local dealer here in about a fortnight
Cheers

Just got in from camping. My 130 weighs 3000kg all the time and more for trips. I have an old Cape York trailer (heavy gal). I set the cruise at 105Km or their about, no worries. Note aftermarket cruise isn't the best but does enough for me. Drove a chipped 2.4 this weekend and it goes very well, but the 2.2 is good enough. It's done the Southern Desert, Madigan and just recently the Vic High Country, all in it's stride. The run home from Cooma (a bloody long way) was no worries.
Cheers,
PeterW

SupporterIf your looking at a 110, you won't have a drama with the power of the motor, in my 2.2 130, I'm only looking for more power when my GCM is at around 6-6.5ton. Running the ute without a trailer at 3-3.5t GVM is no worrys except on the really steep hills. I think it's a better all round motor than the 2.4 pumas.
No complaints from me. The 2.2 is really at home on the highway. It cruises effortlessly and relatively quietly.
