    Deefer Insurance

    Hi

Loving my new Defender but not the insurance quotes I am receiving. So far the best offered is $1200 for full comprehensive from Allianz. Seems a little too much

    My2014 defender 110.

Any suggestions on which company insure best?

You would have to shop around to know if it was high.

Where are you located ? It does have a bearing on the premium

I have found the major companies quite negotiable, why not try some of them ?

There are cover alternatives other than full comprehensive also.

I found Allianz the most competitive for me - until my my modifications became too extensive and they wouldn't ensure me any more - went and saw a 4wd insurance broker who got me a substantially increased payout value and a slight reduction in premium - I'd give it some consideration if I were you.

    Hey
We just insured out brand new MY14 Defender 110 with budget direct for just under 600 per year for full comprehensive insurance and with a two year new car replacement option. Never had a problem with these guys and have two other cars with them and the service is great

    Cheers and good luck

I'm pricing this up now too (in preparation for Sunday / Monday pickup )

comprehensive cover, Sydney postcode, max no claim, garaged, private use, over 30 drivers only, no windscreen, glass, hire car, roadside assist or no claim rating protection (unless included standard) about $800-875 excess and agreed value at 48-50k

Budget direct gold comprehensive at $737
    AAMI $980
    Allianz $1154
    GIO $1164
    NRMA comprehensive plus $1321
    Shannons was around $1615

These are all web quotes, with no over the phone haggling

Yep I'm doing similar, getting quotes from a few places (although possibly a bit prematurely as mine doesn't arrive for another few months).

For all drivers over 30, max no claims, fully comp (no windscreen or hire car cover), garaged in Melbourne postcode, one quote with market value, the other with full replacement car option, $500 excess:
One quote at $1140, the other at $1070.

Will have to shop around again when I decide on the full list of goodies to add, but certainly worth checking out Budget!

I spoke to a Land Rover Panel shop during a recent insurance claim, I think it's important to understand how various insurance companies operate in the event of a claim.

I'm with RACV , and whilst they are good, they do have a few policies I don't like on repair parts, for example my 4 week old MY13 defender was T Boned. RACV were really good on approving the repairs, BUT they scunged out on replacing a scuffed sawtooth wheel, instead they had it repainted. It's OK - but I would have preferred a new wheel on my 4 week old car.

The top insurance company the panel shop preferred to work with because they let the repairer fix things properly, was Shannons.

I have now switched all of my other Defenders to Shannons.

Am with RACV too, the defender is registered under the business and I did hear some bad things about them. I will enquire with Shannon's
