    In Qld its not just about keeping them covered, there is also a max allowable track width increase ( I think it may 25mm per side)

    No idea what it is where you are and if you feel it a problem or not. Of coarse keeping them under some sort of flare will lessen the attention you attract I would say

    Most states are 50mm track increase for a live axle 4x4, but bloody NSW brought that back to 25mm in the last 15 years.

    My wheels are -25 and are inside the factory flare

    on my TD5 110 the 255/85's on zero offset sat inside the wheel arch, just. No rubbing on spring hanger. Looks normal so no need for special attention by the boys in blue. As for legalities, your state road authority will have published material on that issue. It's not a huge stretch to get them engineered. Bit costly though for the piece of paper.
