    Last Defenders made when?

    Hi Guys,

I've been reading about the 90 series going out of production in 2015 and light commercials in 2017 so thought I had a fair bit of time to save up for a 110. A few people selling Defs on Carsales are saying production stops this year.

    What's the actual scenario?

    Cheers

And sorry if this has been done to death already.

    Question

    Lots of threads on this.
The OFFICIAL date from JLR as to when the last Defender will "roll down the line" is the 20th December 2015.
Specialized/less popular Defender builds will finish before that.
Whilst the aforementioned date is the date of last production, if I was going to order ANY Defender, I'd be thinking about it now. There's bound to be a "last minute rush", there are already two "special editions" available in the UK, and there will be bound to be more, all of course occupying more & more of Solihull's build capacity.
So ya'd better get a move on?

And the very last ones have already been ordered. Aus LR will also have a cut off date before last production

    Hmmm.....no pressure then.

Better book a test drive. There have been some interesting deals on 110 2013 demo models lately. But so few 130's on the market.

    Question

Best go to your Dealer I reckon, & see what He's got to say about deliveries, final production etc, although some of them are pretty vague,...and I haven't seen anything official from JLR Australia, only what's come from the U.K.

Yes its curious about the lack of 130's ..........I was going to wait but got a bit edgy as stocks diminished ......ended up with a MY 13 130 with 12klms on the clock a new car but one year old.
    Good Luck

Thanks. I did speak with the Adelaide dealer a few months ago, great salesman he offered me a demo anytime. He didn't mention a lack of time either to order one so I'll pose the question.

One other question. I had a look on the ATO website to try and see what the FBT implications are regarding buying a Defender. All I saw was a note saying Defender 110s are not automatically exempt. I'll be using it for work related to our family vineyard and wine. Has anyone looked into this further? I know tax questions make people nervous so don't feel obliged to give too much information. I note the 110 is quoted as having a payload over 1 tonne which is one criteria element ticked. I could perhaps buy a 130 but they seem much more expensive and to be honest I love the classic 110 shape.

Be aware the unusual' body configs will go out of production much sooner than the std 90 & 110 wagon shapes. Also, to get a genuine 1 tonne payload i believe you need the HD option, which may also finish early. But all this is opinion only not fact.

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

    Facts from the horses mouth.
    Defender 4X4 Station Wagon 90 & 110 Wheelbases. 5 or 7 Seats. | Land Rover Australia

5 or 7 seat wagon have over 1 ton , 1078 and 1012 load capacity respectively, now what this means for FBT I have no idea but would appreciate it if it could be explained?
Say a lease on a 60k defender , what does it mean?
