Puma 2.2 90 and 2.4 110 Engne and Runing Gear

    Hi all,

I am trying to figure out the differences between a Puma 2.2 90 and 2.4 110 running gear and engine differences ?

running gear should be the same apart from maybe the rear prop is shorter (don't quote me though)

the only other change I can think of is simply the engine capacity as far as I'm aware

Everything else I'm sure hasn't changed

    Hi,
The 90 has a Rover diff in the back, the 110/130 has a P38/Wolf diff in the back.

The 90 has smaller diameter rear springs, the same as the front (and the same as the disco, RRC front and rear and 110/130 front).

As stated they will have different rear prop shaft.

There could well be other differences.

2.4 has a "cup holder" in the engine cover. I think they thought we'd spend a lot of time under there. I suppose by the time it came to the 2.2 they learnt they were more reliable than first anticipated, and therefore deleted the cup holder.

    Hi Tony,
Can the 90 diffs, shocks and coils be used in a 110?, I am doing up a 110 and I bought a 90 as a donor vehicle (puma 2.2 90)

The 110 puma rear diff has whine and grinding noise apparently a known problem, I'm just wondering if I should get rid of it put the 90 running gear

    Oh ahahahaha of course...

I was racking my brains and I couldn't think of anything...I should know really, owning a 110 and a 90 although in my defense they weren't both Pumas

    No excuses Lou
90s have always had a Rover diff, 110s never have

Anything is possible, but due to the larger springs the 110 has larger spring seat on both the chassis and the axle.

Assuming the axle from the 90 has a high enough load rating you may be able to cut the spring seat off the P38 axle and weld it on to the Rover axle, but that would require engineering approval.
The best fix is really an Ashcroft P38 hyoid locking diff, or a Salisbury from an earlier model.
That said lots of people have lots of miles on P38 diffs with no issues.

Don't spring seats bolt onto axles?

I don't know, they could do, I've never looked that close.
