Around $6k for a Nine Inch, $3k for a plough (Salisbury).

Mine hasn't failed (or given any issues) yet (100k), just about to fit a fully rebuilt P38 (with a locker) to mine - anticipate a further 100k + of heavy use without issue.

Would have gone an Ashcroft HDP38, but they're not currently available and I'm going to the Cape at the end of next month and wanted a locker fitted for the trip.

Plough!! They're awesome! I have one at either end and they're currently withstanding 200hp and 5.9 litres of Cummins Turbo Diesel... Know where my choice would be!!

I don't know enough to answer your question but if you decide to get a new diff you might want to consider an Ashcroft ATB. Plenty of info on the forum, cheaper and stronger than a new LR diff, and apparently 99% as effective as lockers

What year is your 2.2, how many km? I've been punishing my 2012 130 with no issues, and to be honest I have no concerns regarding the diff reliability, remember, a busted diff is not normally a deal breaker, you can normally limp your way out of trouble..I'd leave your diff in and see how things go.

I have a MY12 110 with 62,000 klms and what I thought was a diff whine turned out to be scalloped tyres. Two new rear tyres and no more whine. I did however investigate a replacement for the P38 as I also do a lot of remote area work. My solution was to fit an ARB air locker. This replaces all diff internals except crown wheel and pinion. According to research I did it tends to be the yokes and pins in the planetary gears that fail. The planeteries in the air locker are the same used in V8 comp trucks and are extremely robost. At about $2,500 fitted for a rear locker and compressor, it represents a good solution for me.
