The only reference I can find is 47 NM, I have used loctite 262 on the bolts although on one side it had thread lock and on the short side it didn't have any? also does anyone know if it's best to use the paper gaskets or RTV sealant? Thanks ted
Hello, having just installed a set of maxi drive axle on the rear of a sal's defender 110, does anyone know what the torque wrench setting is for the drive flange bolts? Also what gasket seal have people used to secure the screw on caps for the drive flanges? Although I recon normal axles and drive flanges would have done the same, I'm really impressed with the way these have totally got rid of all the back lash issue's I've had in the past. Very pleased!

I just did mine a couple weeks ago and used regular RTV...

The bolts I do up to 65 nm, but they do snap quite easily, got 1 broken at the moment.(Haynes Manual)
I don't use any thread lock on them and the seem to be fine.
To seal the flange to the hub, Loctite 515 flange sealant
Also use the 515 on the nut to drive flange, but only where the 2 faces meet, not on the thread.

Cost difference between Britpart and Genuine seals: £2.04. Knowing that your brakes won't fail at any moment: Priceless.
As well as the flanges Loctite 515 also works on diesel - oil -water -air pipe fittings and a fairly good thread lock as well
I use 515, loctite on threads and nip them up til the elbow clicks
Nothing on the bolts, just very clean and a little lube. Paper gasket sprayed with hylomar. Thread tape on the big hex nut cap.
Works for me and very easy to clean next time you have to go back in.
I've also got Maxi drive shafts and flanges , The last time I took them out , I gave them good clean , put some black silastic on because that's all I had and they are fine , 65nm is fine !!..
What makes you think that?
What makes a MD drive flange and its screw on end cap different, in thread and material type, to the multitude of other materials and threads that get thread tape?
At one stage it had loctite master thread sealant. Well bugger me if I didnt nearly break a 600mm long 1/2" breaker bar trying to undo the cap. ....
