    Td5 worked motor

    Hi all
Love this forum, just wondering if you can buy an already fully worked td5 motor in Australia or one that can be imported in..
    Cheers

G'Day Mate. On behalf of the Forum. Thanks!
hmm, Fully worked. What exactly does that mean?

The TD5, like most computer controlled, turbo charged, engines have a number of areas that ccan be improved.
FULLY worked would be a monster.
Crank out of a ford Ranger with 3.2l displacement, VNT, Water to air IC, Remapped injection
220KW and 600Nm of torque and a $50K price tag.

Start with some Power/ Torque figures and you will get a better picture.
    Cheers, BDave.

    Thanks for the reply,
I just mean instead of buying the uprated turbo, intercooler, manifold etc. and fitting them separately.
Was wondering if there is already a td5 engine with all the bits and bobs already on it?

Also do you know the benefits of an uprated intercooler and manifold.

    Cheers

I'm not aware of any Australian Companies offering a 'drop-in'package.
Justinc (a member here) could advise you further.

IIRC at least Davis Performance Landys (NSW) and Les Richmond Automotive (Vic) can supply uprated Td5's.

    ok more info.

How did they take it out to 2.8ltr?

I know there was a guy from Europe (lara on here) that did his own. It involved new crank, new rods, new pistons etc. He designed it all himself and made a lot of the parts I believe. He also had axle shafts made by the same company that does them for F1 teams....

engine would have been stroked. power delivery would be good for a defender as the bigger capacity means torque at the low end. that torque number is huge.

is the motor u are looking for for racing or general driving? are you looking for something high strung or strong enough and reliable?

I put a turbo from a bmw x5 on my rebuilt and balanced td5. Custom stage 3 tune from td5 inside. I am really happy with it. Turns my 35" simex with ease. Blows the rover v8s out of the water
