			Recovery Anchor Points

					Hello again,

I have posted this thread by accident in another area, so I thought I would repost it here.

Sorry for all my questions. Curiousity has got the better of me.....

Where are you getting your "certified" and "rated" recovery points from? Where are they being fited on the chasis?
Who certifies that they are correctly fitted? Or that the attachment point is able to take the load applied in that manner?

I have never worried about trying to fit one to my Disco, and my series III had a custom bumper that I made and I built one into that. As I have had one form of winch or another fitted to all my LR's over the years, I have only once ever used a snatch strap which was 27 years ago, just before I got around to fitting the Fairy Drum Winch to my Series IIA.
At this stage, I am not intending to fit one to my 90 until next year maybe. Which is why i was looking into fitting some recovery anchor points after reading that you had to have them to go on a trip......

 Cheers,

 Phill.

JATE rings would are an option, they replace the tie down things and easy to fit yourself.

There a guy in the Veranda section selling recovery points, not sure if they are a straight bolt up or weather holes need to be enlarged. philco is his user name.

Recovery hooks is what I fitted many years ago, from memory I had to drill or at least enlarge a hole for them to fit.

I don't think any recovery points come with a rating or engineered, both of the above options bolt straight to the chassis and would be up to the task.

I just fitted a new bar to my defer....I know have six recovery point on the front. Swivel point incorporated in the bar, JATE rings which I fitted as I need to fill the space where the bar connects to the chassis and recovery hooks (I will probably remove these, I fitted these when I first purchased the defender however they look out of place now)

I'd agree with Weeds re Jate rings being easy, took 5 minutes to fit

The forged ones seem harder to track down than the welded, ended up getting mine from Dingocroft in the UK, needed the slightly wider ones to accommodate the stock steering guard. A bit pricy though
