Yes, recon cutting a new slot seems like the go.

I'll see if I can find someone with a plasma cutter.

How did you end up with your slot issue? I have an ARB bulbar on my 1995 Defender 130 and am also interested in fitting a Runva EWX12000.

the brake only needs to work against winch out..

needing the brake during a winch in operation is about as effective as pushing a load with a rope.

    all that fun delt with.

strip the winch, reverse the main drive shaft and brake mech orintation, then reverse the solenoid wiring. you've now converted an over wind winch to underwind.

Bare in mind that some winches will allow you to reverse the shaft but not the mechanism, this will either lock up your winch or leave you wihtout a brae

    Winches

Guys, every winch I've seen the cable comes off the bottom of the drum, winches 250 kgs up 220 tons. If you run the cable off the top of the drum , the moment on the mounting feet is changed, since the pulling force is exerted at greater distance from the feet. We don't know enough about the winch/ brake to reverse it's direction. Best not to go there.

You don't need to worry about the first few meters since you rarely winch with the last few meters of cable, ( near the hook), but all the remainder should run off the drum "clean" with little or no contact with the bottom of the lead.

You could try some machined spacers or fabricated from flat bar and lift the winch a bit in combination with lowering the slot in the bar. I'm getting rid of my roller fairlead, and changing to an alloy one with the new synthetic cable. Hopefully the allot lead will line up with the roller bolt pattern. cheers simmo

What about winches mounted feet forward like most bars?

    Is your winch bar standard?

I have a Runva XP11 mounted on Def ARB deluxe winch bar and it fits perfectly with proper fleet angle
Just needed to rotate gearbox 90 deg CCW to locate the selector lever to the top, with the mounting feet forwwad

The mounts are the std 254 by 114.3 (same as EWX 12000)

    Hi
I bit the Bullet and drilled, ground and filed a new slot.
Took a very long time as the 12mm plate was rock hard but we'll worth it in the end.
Winch got a good work out a few weeks ago and performed faultlessly
    I'm well chuffed with it.
    Cheers

    If this is yours...

The winch should be with the release on the P/S, Motor on D/S...

Then it should all line up nicely for you.

    Yes that's my baby.
The winch is as you say release p/s motor d/s but my slot was in line with the top bolts and the Winch cable comes off the bottom hence I had to cut another slot in line with the bottom bolts.

Not sure what brand the bar is?

    Cheers
