Thread: sundown and snorkels

Can't say I've been to where your going but if you don't have the time to fit a snorkel, a tarp and the correct speed will get you thru most creeks..just be mindful if your crossing and upstream is on the driverside you have to be a little more careful as that's the side of the engine air intake..I'm currently working on a job that involves a crossing that is around 700mm high and about 150m wide, a snorkel is on the to do list but the 130 has been fine with no dramas at all, crossing this twice a day for the last 10 days.

Maybe ask the fellas that posted the pics of the crossings what they would think about doing them without snorkels?

Edit: the "anti nance man" fella in one of the pics doesn't have a snorkel on his disco....

I was down there early on in the year and the river was barely flowing, u won't have a problem

Can't say I've ever been anywhere near the place but I can say a snorkel islike a 2 hour job at best. Especially on a defender, just a few nutserts etc. and it is a mod that you will never regret.

You won't have a problem. It has been a dry winter, the river won't be up. If there is a storm in the area, or in the hills the river (The Severn) will rise very quickly, but also fall as quickly.
The base of the river is firm but rocky, so it is advisable to walk the crossings first.

Was there a few weeks ago. All dry.. although i didn't complete the full rats loop as i somehow took the wrong track and ended up at a mountain lookout which had a tight overgrown track leading to it. Prepare for cold nights. I slept inside 2 sleeping bags with a blanket inside my car.
