    Defender shocks

    Hello
I am looking into replacing my springs and shocks on my 95 110 cab chassis standard height. I have the springs worked out and was going to get koni 8240-1181spx for the front and 8240-1190spx for the rear but Paddocks do not sell the 8240-1190spx but I noticed they sell Fox 2.0 Performance series IFP shocks and was wondering what people thought of them? Also I rang up an Australian Koni dealer to get a price on the 8240-1190SPX and after he gave me the price I asked him what shocks does he recommend and he said Oztec 60801 for the front and Oztec 60811 for the rear which are $100 cheaper per shock than the Koni's.So I am wondering what peoples thoughts of them are or should I stick with the Koni's and find somewhere else to get them from oversea's.The reason I was going to get them from Paddocks was because I was going to order some other parts as well
    Thanks for your thoughts

    G'day Mate,

Are you keeping 110 standard height? Or going for some lift with Long travel?

What springs are you going for? Heard rave reviews about Koni Raids but theres plenty of options. What effect are you trying to achieve? This will help people make a good recommendation.

I am keeping the standard 110 Defender height. The front springs are Kings KRFS-03 and for the rears I am going to get Kings to make me up a set of standard height 300lb/in springs that I will put a set of Air lift 1000 in. I have also heard good reviews about raids but they are out of my price range and for what I do which is about 50% highway 10% high speed dirt and 40% offroad they are over kill. That is why I am asking about these cheaper shocks.
    Thanks

Ive used Oztecs on a d2, patrol and d40 Navara. They are designed by GSA wholesale suspension in brisbane. They have a life time warranty and worked very well in all my cars. I can compare them to bilsteins in another d2 and ome in another navara.
Contact them direct and im sure you will save a tonne of money.

    Cheers
    Michael.

I would only run Bilsteins or Koni. if you buy the locally you have warranty support.

    shocks

I installed old man emu shocks and springs got got 100,000 ks before the shocks started to fade. still running the springs, but got bad advice from a mechanic up here and the shocks now fitted are not the right size, front ones keep dislocating have to get dislocation cones.
most of that was pretty hard work, used super pro bushes all round just don't over tighten the bushes I personally don't like the rubber bushes, they flog out to quick or the arb poly bushes, you have to tighten them up to hard to get em on.
old emu again for me cheers.

    Thanks for the replys.
Pacemaker, I will ring them direct and see how much they are also what type of roads have you driven on them with?
jem510, I would like to buy locally but at 50% dearer it makes it a dear warranty.
mudder110, I thought that old man emu springs and shocks all had about a 2 inch lift,

    Yes Pat your right.

I have driven them in many situations. All vehicles combined I completed approx 150,000 kms total. This includes many dirt roads, lots of beach work, heaps of highway driving and some medium to heavy 4x4 work. Mainly day trips to 4x4 parks where your trying to out go everyone else and not break your car.

I have never regretted having them. I had bilsteins in my last d2 with a 4 inch lift and I couldnt tell the difference. Ive also run ome in a d22 Navara with 2 inch lift and they were fantastic for about 20,000 kms. Then they would fade easily. Arb didnt care.

It helps buying straight from the guys who designed them and get them manufactured.

    Cheers
    Michael.
