    Brake Pads

    After 4 months of trying everything I could find on the internet to stop my EBC green stuff brake pads from squealing I am finally ready to give up and buy new front pads.

    What pads do you recommend that make no noise and also have sufficient stopping power?

    Bendix 4x4 seem like a common and satisfying choice. Are there any others I should consider?

    NB: '96 110, slotted and drilled rotors.

    I had the same problem , put bendix pads in and they are much better , but they do still squeal some times . good hard breaking seems to cure it for a while , but only temporary . Previous threads on the subject , seem to recommend genuine pads , but I have no experience with them .

    I don't have a problem with Mintex pads front and rear
    '95 Defender 130 Single Cab

    I have a 1995 110 with slotted/crossed drilled front rotors with EBC green pads & mine have never made a sound, ever (had them over 4 yrs) The rears are standard pads & rotors. I cannot think why yours would be any different. Could there be a run out problem causing the noise?

    Mintex are probably the worse I have used, nothing I did could stop them squealing. The Bendix pads have been OK, only seem to make a noise when dusty.

    I used to repair truck trailers for TOLL and NQX with some of the newer trailers having disc brakes.. we used heat proof silicone on the back of the pads to absorb the vibration (squeeling). worked well but messy to clean up when changing to new pads.

    Bendix 4wd here also and no noise, I even use them in my 'other' SUV and very happy with them

    At least half my driving is on gravel , either dusty or muddy , so could be my main problem . I have noticed that the old pads I have removed rust very quickly , dust or rust certainly must take it's toll .

    This is the first time I have fitted Lucas TRW and also the first time my rears haven't squealed when full of dust.

    However that was the only time they ever squealed.
