I am no expert on a puma 110. However, I would leave the factory setup in place and simply install a Lucas separator after leaving the tank. The reason is that this old time separator acts as a filter but has no element. It picks up water pretty well and larger particles. It's no where near as good as a Racor. However, in the bush you can clean the Lucas out with water or diesel or a rag, and your fine filter will probably be ok. You can rinse out a Racor spin on filter, well I have. But who carries 10 lt of petrol for that in a diesel vehicle. I waited till I found a servo.

By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I dropped in last week and asked at the counter. The price is about right (It was quoted slightly cheaper to me as there would be no freight).
The discussion (despite my probing) was fairly one sided- 'easy to install', 'you need one', 'bad fuel kills engines'... nothing I dind't know.
Apparently pretty plug 'n' play, but they are happy to install for you if you go there for about 120 IIRC.

    Has anyone tried this option?
Would such filter work on a puma 2.2
    Racor has a 2micro and10micron water separator / filter
    Example: 10micron part: 23106_10

I've put the Diesel Care 2nd filter on my My13 -2.2 it's 2 micron with water separating bowl, no problems after about 20K.

The second post show the water the 2nd filter picked up against what the original picked up on the same tank.

Racor filter-separators are the standard by which all others are measured. I had Racor's on trucks for forty years. Many fleets insisted on fitting them to new vehicles. Small commercial vessels and trawlers used them almost universally. They even make large installations to continuously filter bulk fuel storage. Before the EPA cracked down on the practice, Racor sold installations to filter and dewater waste oil and meter it into your bulk fuel storage.
