I used Racor filter-separators on line haul trucks with Detroit 8V92TA's and in my experience they are the duck's nuts and so far in front of the opposition the rest are out of sight.

Ah Brumbles, famous drawing outside the ettamogah pub and rabbits in Pix People I think,

These were the southern batmobiles. interesting Kenworth wouldnt build a 500hp rigid. Knew someone who worked for Ipec in Melbourne on the overnight semi's Believe they would cube out well before gross weight.

Can you give us more details and more photos? Inquiring minds would like to know!

Would it be possible to install this filter in the engine bay instead? After the cooler but before it enters the injection pump? It would be easier to check and drain as necessary. Or am I missing something.

For our Rover Brother who replaced his fuel lines with regular lines and clamps, can you give us more information on the lines you used? The lines with the "quick disconnect" ends are quite expensive and are almost impossible to get off if you don't regularly remove lines. Some of my mechanic friends are saying that the old way of hose on connector secured by a clamp is much better than these "quick disconnect" fittings. We actually damaged a fitting and wound up using a clamp a while back when we dropped the fuel tank. I just bought a new line with the "QD" fittings to keep things standard but I'm starting to see their logic on this. We would have to use 2 sizes of lines though if memory serves. The line to the injection pump is larger in diameter and the return to the tank is narrower in diameter.

The Chief Engineer at White Motor Australia would not build very high speed trucks either. He reckoned over 70 mph theoretical top speed was too much for safety.Theoretical top speed of mine with 1900 rpm and 3.7 diffs was 61 mph and at 2100 was 67.5 mph. The 8V92TA at automotive rating of 435 hp had enough grunt to maintain this into a stiff headwind or up a slight slope.

A 500 hp rigid would have had to be an eight wheeler for legal front axle loading using a 12V Detroit or KTA Cummins to get the horsepower. If you tickled up an 8V Detroit or 855 Cummins to that hp you would have the manufacturer in fits and flatly refusing warranty.
