Exclamation Front recovery point compatible with steering guard and bullbar

    Hey guys
I have been wanting to put on front recovery points on my defender. after searching on the internet, I realized:
*those eyes at the bottom of the bullbar are not recovery points
*most people use jake rings, but these rings will occupy the bolt holes used by Mantec steering guard and most bullbars (where the OEM tie-down rings are fixed) .
*you can get D rings fitted using the four bumper bolts but of course, these will not be compatible with bull bar..

My MY13 has a steering guard and a bullbar; also there are no recovery points on my steering guard....

so what should I do? rather than drilling extra holes on the chasis rail..

    Thanks
    Martin

I went down to the local bolt shop and bought two chunky eyelets. I drilled two pilot holes in the bar on the inside of the chassis rails. And coz I love to over engineer stuff I found some 50x10 flat bar. I bent this into an L shape and then fitted it along the chassis rail and behind the bar. I then drilled through the original pilot hole into the bracket and then took bracket off so I could check I had enough clearance to drill the 25 dia hole needed for the eyelet. I did, so then I drilled the 25 dia holes and lightly screwed the eyelets on so the bracket was in it's correct spot. Then I marked out the bolts that went through the chassis which was for the bar mounting brackets and drilled those holes. Then I thought it's only picked up the top bolt so I welded another piece of flat to the bracket so it would also pick up the bottom bolt. so then drilled those holes as well, bit of paint and banged it all on.

I bought my Defender from Philco and it was (still is) fitted with his recovery hooks. They are pretty solid and decent in my opinion. Maybe PM him for info.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
