I thinks its a pretty common issue that is likely to pop up at some stage in defender ownership. Top leading edge of the door/window frame catches the wind which pushes the frame slightly away from the seal- whoosh whistle.
Things you can try:
- resit your seal
- putty in the top corner around the seal/door/roof join
- door catch as far back as it will latch
- remove a shim from top hinge between hinge and bulkhead, or if not more than one to be found, put an extra shim or two between the top hinge and door. Adding shims between the bottom hinge and bulkhead should also push the top end of the door into the seal but can cause gap at bottom door seal if overdone.
- wind your window down and with your door open, pull the top of the door/window frame inwards with a good amount of force to bend the top end of the door inwards slightly.
more force pushing the top frame into the seal = more speed required to overcome it. Out of the factory I would expect the door to hold onto the seal up to 100kph at least. Cant ask for much more than that, hit 130kph and you'll start to wonder how close you are to ripping the doors off!
