Mine has a red lamp on the right hand side and a clear lamp on the left hand side my red lamp doesn't glow it has a globe but does nothing.
I don't know if its a brake light or a tail lamp even the wiring diagram seems a bit off it indicates there is a right hand side reversing lamp.
If anyone can shed any light on what this lamp should do it would help

    Thanks in advance
On my 2002 model it is a fog light with separate switch, only works with headlights on and extinguishes when turning them off. consequently a reset is required when reactivating the headlights. It is illegal to drive with it on except when foggy as it can dazzle but I would use it in dusty conditions
Landrover manual section "43 exterior lights" page 66 calls it a ECU-LAMP-FOG GUARD REAR the wires are black/slate, black, blue purple, and red/yellow.
The manual is on the net
    cheers Obi

Interesting...! I've never actually seen a Defender that's hasn't got it fitted from new.

What do you have fitted where the fog light should be?

The blue Defender below is a '99 and that is how they all looked when they left the assembly plant... The newer ones obviously have those changed to round ones.

    Cheers,

    Lou

I brought one of those stainless steel plates from the Uk ebay , that hold those 3 switches , as mine had cracked and needed replacing . It is easy to fit and looks good as well . plus It didn't cost a lot !!..Jim
