FRONT WHEEL HUB SEALS BEGAN LEAKING AGAIN!

My 2012 110 went back in for a third time about 6 weeks ago to repair leaking hub seals. This time they replaced the bearings and seals. Today one side has began to leak again and generally the opposite side leaks not long after. I rang them and asked them what the solution is from here to which the service guy responded ' I have no idea, guess we will have to take more photos send them off to LR and wait their response' I'm not going to bother till after the new year to action anything but, I dont think they will find a solution and seriously thinking about trying to force a buy back onto them, despite not wanting to because I do love the car and have spent a considerable amount of money on accessories. Otherwise Im potentially going to be stuck with the 110 out of warranty and having to wear the cost of whatever it takes to fix the problem.

Does anyone else have a possible solution that I could take to LR??

    Cheers.

3 things I can think of.

    1. Which seal are they using? If still a grease seal, change to oil seal RTC3511 corteco brand.
    2. Rear hub seal not pushed in far enough. I believe none of the seal should protrude.
    3. Stub axle marked where the seal runs.

Edit: I'm assuming the leak is on the back of the hub...

Check your diff breathers arnt blocked. The pressure buildup can cause the oil to force its way past the seals

Maybe they keep changing the hub seals but not the axle seal which keeps the diff oil in the diff?

Does a 2012 have oil in the swivels...? Pretty certain it just a tube of "one shot" grease and a leak would not consequential.

Mine "leaks" as well as the swivel ball is permanently covered except where the seal has swept it clean? Having said that nothing "drips" down or get thrown around on the brakes or inside of the alloy.

I suppose its a problem if the EP90 is leaking across into the swivels (is this what Voltron is talking about?) as the grease seals are obviously not up to keeping the oil back...

    Cheers,

Lots of grease was thrown all over the place for the first two changes. It didnt get to that stage on the 3rd one, they just agreed to do the bearings and seals again when I showed them it was leaking. I realise there is an acceptable amount of leaking from what I have been told but they have been outside of that so LR agreed they needed to be done again. The last time the mechanic said some tensioners were either not done up enough or were overdone, I can't remember, Im not even sure what he was talking about but they were certain this is what had contributed to the leaking. Also on the second change they had said the wrong grease was used. It will be interesting what they come up with this time. I dont get angry or upset at them over these things, at the end of the day, the mechanics and staff didnt build or design the car, but I am definately getting over the amount of back and forth into the workshop and the inconvenience that comes with that. I also could take it to all 4x4 but then I am wearing the cost of the repair I guess and potential voiding warranty if I do that.

What seals are you talking about?,I can't see how grease could come out of the hubs, tensioners????,can you tell us were the grease is coming from, from behind the brakes or from the swivel hubs. Pat
