Naysayers: You may indeed never do such things in your land rover. But live and let live. Different people have different uses for their Land Rover.

Some people treat their Landy like a precious loved one and pamper it only driving to the mall and back - never seeing dirt. Others think THAT is such a waste!

Some people need their landy as their daily driver - so they need it drivable on Monday after a weekend in the bush. Others don't!

And people every day are doing dangerous things that other people would "never do!". Like jumping out of perfectly serviceable aircraft.

Probably one of the best posts I have read, so true! Whats good for one is not necessarily good for another.

So if some people like driving land rovers into fast flowing rivers and other precarious thrill situations - let em!

As long as you are prepared to take responsibility for your own actions, have a plan to get yourself out of trouble, and know the limits of your vehicle, then why not use it like it was meant to be used. I would have not problem taking mine through that river, if I had to.

The crew seemed well prepared, had all the gear needed for a recovery and seemed to know what they are doing.

Problems come from people driving under-prepared vehicles into remote locations, with no communications and without any clue what they are doing, then expecting someone to rescue them.

They will be the same people who will be taking the local council/national park/vehicle manufacturer/ or anyone else the can in the hope of striking it rich from their own stupidity.

I'm for "Darwin's Rules", let natural selection take care of those who should not be passing on their genes, rather than protecting them from themselves and letting them multiply

We don't know the full story. It certainly looks like a "flash flooding" type episode. Perhaps crossing that river was the only option to avoid being stranded out in the scrub?

Either way, it is good to watch videos like this. Consider it another file in your vault of knowledge, and gained without any danger to yourself or your own vehicle

    Thanks for sharing.
