No dumb questions. When you think about it these machines are unlike anything else on the road.
The vents are meant to open approx 45 degrees, at least that's what mine do from memory. I am missing the fine mesh, and open is enough to let a good splash of water in driving through puddles too fastthe flapper is easy to get off, just squeeze the hinge pins and push them out. Not sure about sourcing new brackets, worst case they don't look hard to make your own.
The AC, one knob is fan speed he other is how cold (!) the air is, not sure which is which.
That is the fan speed control, sort of.the bottom two detents you feel are fan low and high speed. Above that I believe it closes a flapper to stop air flowing through. It's not a variable speed fan as the picture might suggest!
And the last pic yes, temp on left, flow control on right. With that in the middle you get a little air on legs and on window.
