Bighorn, bfg km2 and Coopers are 3 brands that I know of who make them. But they are all mud tyres.
After having 2 tyres fall apart on me in the last couple of months I'm in the process of researching what new rubber to get. I've noticed in some older threads that some are using the size 255/85R16, but i can't seem to find any tyres in this size. I've looked at BFG AT's, Maxxis 980's, GG AT2's, and Conti Crosscontact AT's, none of which seem to come in this size.
So what IS available in this size? I'm currently using 235/85R16, but the idea of something slightly wider and taller appeals to me if they are readily available.
Cheers
Sean

As far as I'm aware there doesn't seem to be AT tyres in that size. Others may know further.

Thanks guys, I don't do much playing in the mud, so really would prefer to stick to a AT style tyre
Looks like I'll probably have to stay with the 235's.

Out of interest, if I did decide to get MT's in the 255 size, do these fit OK on a TD5 110 on standard alloys? No rubbing anywhere?
Cheers
Sean
Sean,
They fit perfectly on the alloys, but there is a small chance that you might need to turn the steering stop out a fraction to prevent them rubbing the radius arm.
I've had them (BFG KM2) fitted to a 90 with standard suspension (Land Rover Freestyle Alloy) with no issues. The 90 has smaller coils in the rear which allows up to 265's, but the 110 should be fine with the 255's.
They are a great tyre but a bit difficult to obtain outside the big cities, so not the best option for very remote travel.
Cheers,
Lou

You could always go 265/75R16 if you want to go bigger. A much more common size.
You should know first that the stock Defender 5.5" wheel is not wide enough for either size.
