SOLD THE 110 & HEADING INTO IVECO TERRITORY

The problem with the Iveco aftermarket rims is they weight a TON , unsprung weight matters , Also trying to get a 65kg tyre/ wheel combo into position is not fun, at least they don't bounce about the place when your trying to belt a carcass onto the rim .

And the Iveco Brakes are bad enough but the aftermarket rims don't have enough cooling for the non-ventilated rotors.

I'm awaiting delivery of a set of 6x EVA Alloy rims , Normally I steer clear of Alloy for 4x4 use but 13kg per rim vs 45kg per rim is going to make a huge difference. I'll just get the tyres mounted at a dealers instead of DIY in the Cue Caravan Park :)

you need at least 124 load rating tyres for these trucks

Ive been running Federal Couragia MT 35x12.5R17 124Q , wear well, terrific off road, very noisy on road but after 40,000 km are starting to self destruct form radial splits in the sidewall, one tyres is stuffed and another on the way.

Im getting Hankook 37x12.5R17 next , just hope the Alloys are in before another of my Federals delaminate .

Most rubber these days is synthetic. I doubt Iveco would use natural (India) rubber in those bushes.

I would get them to replace them under warranty. The more they replace, the more management will know there is a problem.

p.s. I know an R&D Engineer at IVECO Europe, but I think he only works on the larger stuff.

Where do I start, without hijacking this thread too much :cool:.

Firstly , a quick look and the 255/100R16 casings I have are K rated so that's 110 Km/hr which for me (and a poor old 110 HP Perkins) with a GVM of around 4 1/2 to 5 tonne is generally more than enough. :)

For me the 19.5's have been great but they only come in a 70 profile, so to get any side wall you need a minimum of 285's which is OEM on later OKA's and legal on the OKA's 7 1/2" rims. I've run two sets of 305's, one Bridgestone and one Michelin XZE and they've been great. The 305's are supposed to be mounted on 8" rims but I've (and others) have had no problem at all running them on 7.5's. This is probably because they're run at nowhere near their load rating of 147 (3075Kg). On the CSR I ran the Bridgestones at 22/24 psi without a hitch. In the Great Sandy Desert I ran the Michelins at 24/26 (from memory) but carried more weight on a firmer (generally) surface.

The Michelins are excellent and come in XDE (block pattern) and XZE (steer pattern) but are expensive at around $800+. Hankook make a XDE clone for under $500 incl. GST. :) and are good value especially if buying 4 or 6 of them. :D:D

The biggest negative is weight. With my old (very) HD rims and Bridgestone 305's they weighed in at 86 Kg per wheel. When I replaced these with 315/75 R16 Hankook MT's on alloys they weighed in at exactly half the weight for a total saving of over 250 Kg for six wheels. VERY significant.

Note. The Oka has the same PCD (165.1mm) as the Land Rover but 8 stud not 5.

For my money and for general purpose use I reckon these 315/75 R16 Hankooks at around $320 each and a rating of 127Q are pretty good value. There are plenty of others out there but watch the load rating.

This 200+ HP OKA has a relatively mild 20 psi turbo on a similar 6BT Cummins as Sitecs.

But regardless of which way you go, some things never change.

Note, the OKA owner (not me) is doing a stirlng job of holding the spare down so it wont roll away. :wasntme:

It was tongue in cheek, The truck has done 45,000km , they may as well have been India Rubber. and from what Ive found Iveco do not swap information between dealers, each time I go with a known fault , they seem to be Agog and 'thats very unusual - never hear of that happening before"

Each time Ive been to a dealer they have forgotten something or stuffed something up - I don't want those knuckleheads buggering up my transferase, I'll do the job my way & I'll know its done right.

Don't want to put prospective buyers off but I'll start posting about their stuff ups publicly in the Iveco section soon, as they won't answer either of the complaints I've lodged so far. Management don't seem to give a rats arse about private owners / Individual customers !

Yes but they still need to put the warranty claim in if they want to get paid for the job. It is from this paperwork that the engineers would analyse failure rates of components.

Thanks Inc, but I reckon as I'm the only one here with an OKA it's not really justified. :(

With a different sub section classification, ie ditching the European sub classification and going with say 4WD 'trucks' for example, it might give more 'critical mass' to the sub-section. So whether Unimog, OKA, Iveco or whatever it may stand a better chance of being successful.

I understand completely. It's bad enough with an RR wheel/tyre. A while back I bought one of these from Repco but they aren't rated for your wheels/tyres!
