    Smile ASHCROFT TRANSMISSION

    In case anybody else is interested , I recently imported ...

    R380 with upgraded bearings ,
    LT230 with sleeved case & ATB center diff & high capacity sump .
    HD clutch .

    Cost was...
    Parts & air freight 4,337.79
    Int bank fee 130.00
    Customs duty & GST 629.60

    TOTAL AUD $ 5,097.39

    Shipping took 2 days to Perth airport

    Local price on ebay , eastern states would be aprox $4,080.00
    Plus freight east / west
    Quality unknown & no upgrades .
    I still have the old units for sale or spares .

    I reckon I have the quality & upgrades for free.

    Thinking about the Lt230 transfer case with the sleeve and I believe they do a limited slip centre for the transfer case. That would be nice.

    I got the ATB center diff in mine , can't wait to get it fitted & try it out .

    On my inv it comes to 1060 GBP inc all mods & dep for exchange unit .

    Shipping all up was 285 GBP , you would prob work on aprox half of that .

    My new improved version of the gearbox (MT82) to TC adapter/ output shaft is an engineering work of art, and the "out off the box" thinking of a controlled and contained "leak" from the gearbox is a stroke of genius IMO.

    I was looking at this exact package late last year but didn't quite know how to go about import duty. Dave Ashcroft did offer to split invoices- four of them I think were needed.... Can I ask which strategy worked in terms of getting that particular bill from customs?

    That was the full duty on one invoice .
    Roughly 5% duty & 10% GST
