    another blown turbo hose?

So I've already had the recall done on the deefer a while back.

I left the defender in sydney with my uncle and I've got his rangie. I was going to drive up tonight to do a swap with him and drive the fender home but last night he rang me as he said the check engine light came up and he was hearing a loud wooshing noise. Loud enough that I could hear it on the phone.

turned car off and on and light was still on he said. But when you drive it and you're on the throttle you can really hear it.

Question is, has anyone else thats had the recall blown the same hose? or is it most likely to be another hose? otherwise the car drives about the same. SO I'm not even sure what it is. I've not seen it yet thouogh. Not till tonight

roadside came out - said he reckons one of the clamps to the intercooler was loose. tightened it up and left (didnt road test LOL)

uncle drove vehicle - 200 meters down the road and the noise is back. LOL he reset the engine light so its off at the moment but the wooshing is there.

car getting towed to trivett and I think they will very kindly provide me a vehicle.

I had the recall one go, it was fitted incorrectly and the shroud was pushed in towards the fan by the hose and when the engine was under load the fan rubbed on the shroud rubbed a hole through that then had a go at the hose and wore hole in it. The dealer did pay for the repairs and a new hose.

Buying from them is not usually a problem, they're usually happy to take your money......

I would suggest doing the replacement of the turbo hoses yourself, or if you don't know how to do so, then taking it to another dealer or preferably an independant land rover specialist.

If you do decide to still have your vehicle worked on in their workshop, make sure that when they have finished that they haven't bent the power steering hydraulic lines......

This is something that they are getting a reputation for when doing turbo hose replacements....

They have an "in house" Defender specialist.....make sure that he doesn't work on your vehicle....

The best of the service advisers to see there is a young bloke by the name of Jamie Shuttleworth, he doesn't know much about land rovers having only come across to them recently from Jeeps, but at least he tries his best and doesn't bull**** and gives a straight answer, which is more than I can say for the other office staff there.

    Regards,
    Mike.

Before I changed to the stainless hoses I noticed that every set of hoses I tried fitting (3 from memory) was about 20mm to long. If you cut that 20mm off the end on each side it pulls it away from the steering and other items of concern (such as the shock turret on the passengers side).
