Hand hold for passenger in Def 90

My passengers are having trouble getting into the 90 and I'm being pestered to fit something above the door for them to grab onto. There are 2 over the rear door. Is there something available and what would be the best way to anchor it to the side ceiling? Thanks, Pete

Doesn't the Defender have the handhold on the dash corner any more?

Ahh, maybe not on the Puma - but what about the handhold in the dash?

My wife has the same complaint. She's short. Having sidesteps does help. I've also wondered about moving one of the handholds over the rear door to above the front passenger door, but I'm not sure if it can be done. Another trick seems to be to turn and go in backside first, using the legs to push up on the sidestep. Legs are stronger than arms, as anyone who does rock climbing knows. Maybe it's just a change of habit required.

Get some factory fold down side steps.

I've got them on mine, and they work well. Although mine have copped a knock or two out in the bush.

i got hold of a pair of door handles, the same ones you use to pull the door shut from inside, and mounted them to the A pillars. The screws that hold the plastic trim on the pillars are just the right distance apart, just drill the holes a bit bigger and use bigger self-tapping screws.

POD, I've received my order of two interior door handles to do the same as you. Though, it looks like it won't be a flush fit. Did you use anything (e.g. rubber) between the A-pillar trim and the handle?

Do you mind taking a photo, so I can see how it looks?

I have a short wife as well , I have steps on the td5 , so she grabs the side handle on the dash , and that works . I have a new Defender on order , and I can see the dash hand grip being a problem , as It's a bit further in . I hope It will work out OK !!.. Jim .

We have factory side runners on our '13 90,.....no problems at all for wifey, she just steps onto the side runner, grabs the appropriate part of the dash & gets in,...no probs at all.
