A thank you to the Dealer.

I wish to put in a good word on the forum for the local Land Rover dealer,
    Lennock Land Rover in Canberra,
Two weeks out from my Simpson Desert trip I find out on the ALRO forums that there is a problem with the Jack Shaft between the gearbox and the transfercase, so I call the parts guy at Lennock and ask if they had one in stock...they did, and then the parts guy asked what the tear model the Defender was, MY13, he said that he needs to speak to the mechanic....them minutes later he advised that the work should be done under warranty.
The next day I drive over to the dealer and the head mechanic Mark takes the Defender for a drive....Hmmm you have a problem with your rear axles, they wear out on the drive hubs as they too are not lubricated from factory.
I leave the vehicle with them for a week....worried if I need to put my Simmo trip off.
After a week and a few days at the shop, I was doing some other business near by so I pop in and talk to the Service guys...Yes your vehicle is ready
we replaced the jack shaft, rear axles and drive hubs and did the oil pump recall, and gave the vehicle a once over for the trip.
They noticed that the rear axle A frame ball joint is starting to wear, come back after the trip and we will replace it for you under warranty.
They also asks if I had the inter cooler hose recall done as there is no record of it on the system, I advised that I fitted some spiral hose around the inter cooler hose from day one, so he then goes to the parts store and gets me a new inter cooler hose and mounting brackets, here he said, keep it as a spare for the trip.
The reason for the public thank you on the forums is that despite that the vehicle was not purchased from Lennock Land Rover, or ever serviced by any LR dealer, I do all my own servicing(Army Mechanic for 25 years), they still fixed all the issues with no problem.
The only issue I did advise them of is that they washed the vehicle...I suppose it looked too off road parked next to the fancy land Rovers as mine was the only Defender there.
Back from the Simmo and Flinders Ranges...nil issues, the Defender became a tow vehicle for two Prados, one of which blew a clutch 127 km out of Birdsville and we towed it back, and a recovery vehicle up Little Red for a Land Cruiser and a Colerado.
Oh and my mate gave me a hand painted match box model to take as spares, picture on Big Red.

    Thumbs up

That is SENSATIONAL service, & what a wrap for that Dealer.
Too many times these days, some people take things like this for granted, NOT ME. If someone does the right thing by me, I really appreciate it, and I "pass the word", just as I do, if they do the opposite.
So, well done to Lennock, Pickles.

Well after many complaints to my dealer about backlash he asked me to leave my car in for a "proper" check on Friday. They driven the defender for at least 5 times and the standard response "it is normal".
So, after I told him it is now getting worse and I suspected it maybe the axles & flanges and/or adapter shaft he decided that they will need the vehicle for the day to find problem.
    Fingers crossed!!!!

Yep from me too, I purchased my 110 second hand from them, a couple of years ago now.
Gave me a great deal, I think they just wanted it off the forecourt, plus whilst they were fixing a few issues I'd found with it, the salesman took me out for a spin in a new D4. I think his name was Guy, he also owned a 90, top bloke. I even got 3 bottles of local wine thrown in for good measure.

Then after driving back to Melbourne, I realised that I'd left the rear folding seats, that the previous owner had removed, back up at Canberra.
A quick call to Lennocks and Guy had them couriered down the next day, no cost!

So I too would like to say a belated thank you to Lennocks Canberra.

That just reminds me, I should put the seats for sale on the forum, they're like brand new. Job for the weekend me thinks.

    good dealer

    Hi,
another plug for Lennox in Canberra--not that long ago they too replaced my son's 110 MY14 jackshaft, rear axles, hubs etc (over $3K worth of fix) with no worries at all--obviously did not last long though from the factory. Now at Patricks LR in Port Macquarie they are to replace more bits on it with no quibble, and also did my MY13 130 without fuss when it split a lower turbo hose last week with part up o/night from Melb--nice people to deal with so yes--not all dealers fall short.

Lennock's boss has changed a few attitudes within his service department. There is a noticeable difference now compared to last year. Not once have I been given the line 'thats a Defender thing' this year !

Well done George ! This is what will give you repeat business

    Pete
