    The negative thing about Defenders...

Cleaning them!!!! I love mine to bits, but man there are some awkward bits especially round the hinges and the back door. It took me ages to wash and wax her, then to top it off she was gleaming and I drove her into the car port and the water in the gutters spilled all over the clean car. I washed the roof but this time I did not wax as it was the road grime from the local road works I was worried about.
Love her to bits but so hard to clean!

    And so much of it
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Go buy yourself a dedicated soft broom head, and appropriate bucket. I find its a simple process there after.

You shouldn't have to wax it more than once or twice a year Chris. The soft broom is a great idea. It's good for all the daggy bits too. Then just use an old T shirt to remove excess water. Quick and effective.
It's almost a shame that the things are so damn shiny.
    Cheers, Billy.

Problem is here the road into town is currently being widened and it is dirt for a few kms. With the rain we keep getting it is just sticky mud. I was an hour away the other day in Atherton and you could pick every single car in Atherton that was from Ravenshoe (actually Millstream) and they need to use this road. Any car that looked like it had been to the cape and back was a Millstream resident for sure.
I wish they would hurry up and finish.

I find the hard bit is cleaning underneath. My Tdi hardly ever got the body panels washed, but every time the underside got dirty I would wash it as soon as I could, with my Puma, I have never washed the top in the two months I have had it, but had to hose mud out from underneath a few times. In fact I have to do it again today after a but of damp clay yesterday. I covered half the street in mud last time, so have to come up with another plan.
