what brake discs/pads are people using on pumas?

I'm at 75000km and I've never chagned brakes.. I've got about 3mm left on them so its time to change them out...

local dealers want 602 front pads and discs and 513 rear pads and discs. thats 11xx for just the bits. plus fitting O_O

I found another local place that can do it for about 950 ish all up.

Someone mentioned to me that when doing brakes the wheel bearings will need doing too... so I'm not sure if this is something I should attempt myself or what.. but I was wondering for those who have changed brakes already , what did you use and how much are they roughly? thanks

Are the discs worn or below thickness?

You can do bearings - and I would if they are in poor condition when you remove...

However, if the grease is clean, then repack and fit a new seal should do it...

Now is a great time for a set of DBA slotted and some ceramic pads

Simple job to do if you have some basic tools...

Have got tools at home... Just sold my hoist so I'll have to jack up one wheel at a time lol. or do it at work on a weekend.

Not sure if I'm below the thickness really. the brakes themselves dont seem to have much of a lip. but apparently you have 2mm and 1mm play so thats not really much by the sounds of it. lol so I might as well change them all.

have you got a link as to where I can get the dba slotted rotors and ceramic pads?

    2012 its a 110.

british off road have genuine pads and (not sure if genuine) discs for about 500ish. Not too bad. Cheaper if I go non gen pads too.

    Yeah where are you Chops?

The discs can be machined, as long as you still have some meat left on them.

Front ventilated 22mm minimum, solid 12mm.
    Rear 12mm minimum.
Maybe you could save some money there.

The above links just give you an idea of prices I guess.
I have used LR Direct for other bits and pieces, and their prices are pretty competitive. Freight is quick and reliable.
My front discs are getting low, and I've started shopping around. I've recently done my front swivel seals and bearings, so they're ok.

If you do it yourself you will need new hub nuts, and probably wise to replace the inner hub seal, FTC4875.

I used Brembo pads and DBA disks - off the scale on the brake dyno when I got them engineered (I had drums). At the time the engineer commented that this was very impressive.

Not sure you can get them for a Puma.. but if you can I highly recommend the combination.

Hummm, here I is,,, better late than never

I can get my old ones redone and will keep them as spares maybe, as I don't think they are undersize, but still need to check.

I don't see the need to go original on equipment like this, and the reality is, your not going to know exactly where they are made anyway. They can tell you any thing they want.
I didn't pay anywhere near that . Mine came local from Melbourne, made OS, as is almost everything, but I believe slotted here. I'll have to find out what they were exactly tomorrow.
They are awesome. Almost sent me through the window, and pulled me up, with lots of tyre smoke, in a straight line, whereas my old set would have seen me wearing the rear of the truck.

Took me two days, but I was late to start, it should only take a few hours all up. I had no hoist, just 1x1 at a time. Had some issues with very tight (over tightened in my view) bolts, so make sure you've got a good length breaker bar. Save yourself some coin, buy them local, do the job yourself, oh, and don't be like me and forget to get seals I now have to redo the job in three weeks On the UP side, at least I wont struggle with tight bolts next time

My 2011 puma 110 has Brembo discs as OE, just did my front rotors (rovacraft $90 each I think ) and genuine pads front and rear $110 per end from memory. New hub nuts as well and new flange bolts, snapped one getting it out. Not happy.

Didn't think of doing the seals cars only done 65k. I stil can't believe what a stupid system they worked out with in board discs. Most other cars I've done take no time at all.
