    Sick of the Disco

I have had 2 Disco 4's, and own a 2015 for the last 7 months. They are fantastic vehicles. The 3.0 SDV6 is an awesome engine, the ride is magnificent, its quiet, it handles amazingly, it has heaps of air bags and leather comfy seats. The sound system is awesome, the sheilas look at you when you get out of it, its the best car I have ever owned.

    But....

    Somethings missing.

I just bought a new Defender today and I'm going to sell the Disco.

    I call it an upgrade!

I know what's missing Karls....and it's the filling between yer ears! Why anyone could possibly be going back to a time warp badly put together thing such as Deafener after a D4 I can't imagine.
If only I could persuade the Cook that we should do the opposite I'd do it like a rocket. But then she won't cook any grub for me.
Of course you could be trying to be committed...........

PS. But I do know a highly regarded repairer who reckons as long as LR keep making D4s and RRS he'll never be out of a job.

Like going from Bundy coke in a can to a fine old red, some will always be Bundy drinkers , and good for them, more red for us
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

    Yep......
D3, D4, RRS ...... these have well and truely taken over from the TD5 in keeping me in work for many many many years to come....

Personally I would NEVER step over a Defender puma to get into any of the above Land Rovers. The above makes a Defender puma look like a horse and cart but they have so much less problems.

For what owners can spend on repairs with their D3, D4, RRS, other owners can fit out a Defender puma with all the mods and accessories they (and I) can think of doing.

The most recent owner of a D4 just out of warranty, I replaced the secondary turbo, said he sold a 2 year old Defender for 5k (on the road cost) less than what he paid for it and it sold in 40 mins flat.

I said "why???" (in reference to him selling the Defender)
He said "I dont know" ............

lol lol lol.... hrmm not sure about that.... lets call a Defender puma a really nice beer, a good stout perhaps? and the ones that dont like a good beer can keep their laa-dee-daa wines that will make them one morning wake up and feel very very ill....

Wow.... I thought the D4's were pretty much trouble free with most of the issues sorted out..... This Turbo problem, is or was it a one off thing or is it a common issue with the D4's ??

Be interested to know more of what problems there are with the D4's as this was one vehicle that was on my future car list.....

All you need do is go over to the D3 / D4 / RRS part of the forum and have a look, I try to stay away from that part of the forum as I work on the vehicles for a living, so what would I know

Secondary turbo seal failures is quite common, but if the oil drain mod kit is fitted early on they can be fine, I fit the kit the first time a D4 etc comes to me as does another Land Rover indie repairer, it seems the dealers dont do this.
